Trial Manager Report

It was a fair morning when Tina and I arrived at Daglingworth for the level 2 trial. All competitors arrived for the 10 am start apart from one who kindly let us know . after a briefing we were ready to go! Tina kindly agreed to judge the outside and I judged the inside searches. I had Paula for my scribe. Although I saw the inside searches I wondered what was happening outside.
We did a quick briefing as well as asking the handlers to let us know if they had any problems to speak to us straight away as we would not be able to do anything if they left it until the got home, luckily nobody came to us with any! After the trial had finished and everyone had their certificates and rosettes and trophy we were lucky to have some help us tidy up. Thank you very much for helping. Also thank you Tina for arranging this trial as well as doing all the paperwork.

Judges Report

The teams were waiting for the start and after giving a chat on what was happening the first team arrived in the hall for the tables and chairs. As we had two teams running two dogs I had to remember to changed the hides. It proved interesting to watch how the handlers and there dogs worked, with most teams allowing their dogs to work by themselves. It was noticeable that one team stood out in this section which was Laura and Fly who found the two scents in 25 seconds.
The 2nd search Boxes and luggage was quite different as many teams had difficult in this section of the search. Where there were quite a few wrong indications with some handlers talking their dogs into indicating. The quickest on this section was Kay and Remi who found both scents in 21 seconds. There was a funny moment when asking one competitor whether she required a time reminder , only to be told 30 minutes please. When she realised what she had said we all started to laugh! I would like to thank Paula for being my scribe who did an excellent joband also the competitors who were an excellent group being friendly and their dogs working so hard. It was also good that all teams passed.

Judges Report

After days of heavy rain, we woke up to a sunny day for our L2 trial – much to the delight of Lucy (whose dog Olive is not fond of working in the rain).
We started on time, with Nigel working the interior searches and me the exterior.
Exterior Items
The scent was hidden in a gate handle and in a Flexi lead. After showing interest in the lead, unfortunately, Ann Matty called the alert on the extension roll (next to the lead) as Del must have fringe alerted. Out of the 14 teams, the only other one that called the second alert wrong was Daria and Jasker, who started alerting on every item after having correctly alerted on the handle.
We then moved on to the wall, which was the “normal” Cotswold Dry Stone wall by the side of the hall, which (like the exterior items) had been white dogged by one of Paula’s spaniels. Georgina and Ted called one wrong alert and after finding one item, Olive (and Lucy) decided she no longer had to work.
Well done everyone for passing and Ann Matty for winning with Sweep and getting Excellence!

It was a pleasure hosting another trial, with friendly competitors and great attitude from everyone. Thank you Paula for helping yet again!
