Very Heavy rain for the start of this trial easing off after about 20 minutes – with just a few drizzly spells throughout the evening. However a calm evening with very little air movement – with this combination of damp / still air the scent stayed exactly where it was placed! and the overall times reflect this with dogs going straight to source.
Thank you to Helen for judging , Janice, Gill and Diane for their help throughout the evening and to all the teams who’s spirits weren’t damped by the weather. Thank you
Judges Report
I judged the BBC and Vehicle – A venue that can be draughty due to the amount of doors in and around the building, the stillness outside also helped the indoor searches.
BBC – Some really nice searching and you could clearly see the dogs being pulled into the scented items – no exceptions here, every alert was right at source.
Vehicle – The last outdoor search and a light breeze had developed so we saw some teams just hesitating when in odour, moving on and the dogs quickly turning back to give a very clear indication. – again all dogs right at source.
Every team deserves a mention but a special well done to two of our visiting teams that I have previously judged – Sabina / Zoyka and Barbara / Ranga – whose confidence in their dogs has grown significantly and the dogs clearly enjoying the trials – well done
Debs / Humphrey – a quirky young boy that can become startled within a blink of an eye to any sound , object or person – but he can work through it – so possibly not going to be the fastest dog in a trial but he achieved an individual success this evening by qualifying at his first L1 well done.
Michaela / Skye – achieving excellence this evening in style with a very fast time and a 2nd place – A tricky slow start to your SWUK journey, but it has all fallen into place through your hard work and perseverance. Well done.
