Trial Manager Report

A lovely bright sunny morning. Thank you to Hayley and Wendy for judging. Lots of new teams on their first level 2, so very well done to everyone with qualifying.
The vehicle /wall search seemed to be the most daunting for you but you all worked through it with great results.
A great atmosphere in the car park
Congratulations on all your results

Judges Report

Thank you Susan Elliot for inviting us to judge

The trial took place in bright, sunny conditions, although there was at times a keen and testing wind which added an extra layer of challenge for both dogs and handlers.

As is often the case in scent work, a few dogs experienced an off day. This is all part of the sport, and it was encouraging to see handlers remain positive and reflective, taking valuable learning from the experience while recognising the many successes throughout the day.

There were some truly lovely partnerships on display, with dogs and handlers working together with focus, trust, and enthusiasm. It was a pleasure to watch the teamwork and progression at this level.

Many thanks go to my scribe, Janice, for her support and efficiency throughout the trial, and to White Dog Kinder

Judges Report

Thank you to Susan for inviting me to judge, and Buddy to white dog – he loves it!
it was great to see such lovely searching from so many teams, and so much progress from teams I’ve judged before. Everyone found both hides on the tables and chairs, the early hide on a table near the start caught a few dogs out as they passed over it initially but it was also great to see some teams, such as Jordan and Wilma, have the confidence to call it straight away. The second hide was on the elephant toy and didn’t seem to cause too many problems for most teams. Everyone found both exterior items too – one was on the folded down chair and the other on the crate. Most dogs found the crate first. It’s worth competitors just taking a moment to figure out where the second odour could be after locating the first hide as it can’t be on adjacent items. A lot of people lost time searching items scent couldn’t be hidden on. As well as huge congratulations to those that placed I just wanted to note the amazing enthusiasm of Heidi and Venor and progress from Sabina and Zoyka that got both teams a well deserved clean sweep. There was some really considered searching by Ewilina and Kali – lovely to watch. Val and Daisy had a great morning with Daisy’s indication improving as the searches progressed which was lovely to see and it was great to see Shirley work through a tricky morning with Woody. Well done everyone!
