Trial Manager Report

It was quite a nice day and no sign of rain which was good for the teams and also Tina who volunteered to judge both the outside searches. The teams were ready for the briefing at 11 am apart from one who had trouble with her car, but she still arrived prior to the start. With Annie making sure that the teams were ready we started on time. I was judging inside and Tina outside and the morning flew by without any trouble.. It was nice to see that all teams passed with 7 teams all getting 100 points and only separated by time. I would like to thank the teams for making it a special morning together with Annie and the two scribes Paula and Ann.

Judges Report

I was asked to co judge the level 1 at Daglingworth today 17th March. I arrived at 10.20 for an 11 am start and most of the competitors and their dogs were in the car park. After setting up the inside I was judging both Table and Chairs, plus Boxes and Luggage.
Tina and I then briefed the competitors, and the white dog was run. We were then ready to start. I started with Table and Chairs and all the dogs worked very well with all teams finding the hide and their handling of the dogs was very good. One team, Sally and Bryher in fact found the hide within 10 seconds. This search area went by very quickly.
The second search Boxes and Luggage started badly with the first competitor being unlucky in that they had 2 false indications. However, the rest of the teams did very well with only one other team not getting both.
At the end of the trial all teams that had entered qualified with the first being Sally and Bryher, followed by Kay and Remi, Anthea and Meg, Clare and Mac. These were only separated by time.
Also Congratulations to Sally and Bryher for getting their Excellent award.
I would like to thank Ann and Paula who scribed for the day as well as Annie for keeping the teams on their toes and ensuring that the day went smoothly.

Judges Report

It was a leisurely 11 am start to the L1 in Daglingworth on 17 March – leisurely for all but Sally, who had a nightmare discovering her car had a flat tyre and she needed to find alternative transport, making her a couple of minutes late, which we were more than happy to accommodate by giving her time to calm down.
Exterior items
We had an array of items for the exterior search pillaged from the Village Hall and carefully selected as not recently used/thoroughly cleaned. 3 teams only found one items, and mistook their dog’s interest in a lunchbox (Kay and Maisie)or let their nerves travel down the lead (Yvonne and Nala – who had just spent the night at the vet, having eaten a sock and Georgina and Ted). Well done, Mandy and Ton for working through distractions of kids and dogs on the road.
Wall
I used the side of the Village Hall (next to the river) for the wall search and realised that it was not going to be as easy as I thought when the white dogs took their time. The scent was in the middle under the window ledge and travelled into the hall corner, with a drain pipe. After nail biting searches from nearly all, only Annette and Daisy (whose second only ever time it was searching a wall) called the find correctly.
Congratulation to Sally and Bryher for winning the trial and gaining their Excellent.
Thank you to Ann and Paula for your help scribing, timing and cleaning plus providing the white dogs! Thanks to all the competitors for a friendly trial!
