Trial Manager and Judges Reports

It was nice being asked by the lovely Pippa to judge a small L5 for her (again) just before Christmas. The weather was changeable, so I decided to run Interior 1 and 2 first and then the Exterior search. There were only 5 competitors, so it was truly a “small” competition – which also meant not too much waiting and hanging around for everyone.
Interior 1 was a hallway and a changing room and apart from Rick and Max, who decided not to work all day, all competitors found either 3 out of 4 or all 4 hides. I could not help an unprofessional gasp, when Paddy told Kate (for the second time) repeatedly where the hide was (at the doorway under the rug). Eventually, she called it, getting a full point deducted for not (repeatedly) trusting her dog.
Interior 2 was the hallway, a committee and a storage room, with 5 hides and all competitors (apart from Rick and Max) did really well!
The exterior was the rear of the hall, with only Caroline and Balian having to find all hides to pass. It started drizzling again half way through the searches with everyone doing a great search and finding all hides.. Apart from Rick and Max, who was more interested in sniffing the ground than working altogether.
Thank you, Pippa, for asking me to judge and Zoe for being a brilliant scribe and white dog (Breezer and Teg) handler!

Thank you to Tina Schuster for judging and Zoe Heritage for scribing at this first trial at Oakhill Village Hall. Everything went well except for the rain. Tina set a lovely test which was very doable but with a slightly more testing hide in each area, just perfect for everyone. Well done Anni with Maisie who won, Kate with Paddy in second, Caroline with Balian in third gaining their excellent award, and Carla with Flynn in 4th, this was their first go at level 5, a brilliant result. Everyone helped to clear up at the end which was brilliant, thank you one and all.
