Well, where do I start! What a beautiful evening to spend in Leicestershire.
9 teams competing at Level 1, and for a few it was there first attempt – which is always great to see new faces getting involved.
Only a couple of wrong alerts over the four searches, with the dog’s just needing a bit more time to get to the right item to find the source.
Unlucky for Pia & Effie to miss the first find, with a false indication, but she held her nerve for the rest of the trial, trusting Effie and earned their qualification with some fantastic searching!
Also a special mention to Carley & Ice, new to Scentwork and overcame his anxiety in the first search to work methodically & much more calmly the rest of the evening.
Claire & Bob – what a team! The relationship these two have is fantastic, and Bob is so honest, when indicating on the wrong part of the chair, and asked by Claire “have you found something?”, he moved off his indication, looked at Claire, and moved to source lower down on the chair to show where it really was ❤️
Vehicle search to start, made the teams think about the wind movement with scent moving along the wheel axels! Second up was tables & chairs, where the confidence of all dogs really began to show! Boxes & luggage is usually a difficult area for many new teams, but most made it look easy with dogs covering the area and finding the right box in under a minute! We finished up with exterior items, and the dogs showed great focus with limited distraction by the resident hens nearby.
Congratulations to Hollie & Ernie, on a win in your first trial with a flawless performance!!
Lovely to see some teams again, showing great improvement from the last time I’ve met them at trials.
