What a contrast to Upton Lovell, Cucklington is vast with a huge hall and several spacious rooms available as well as a massive patio area. Where Mondays hides were about careful searching checking corners and intimate spaces, Saturday was get out there and cover the ground. Generally the larger areas seemed to suit the handlers better, it seemed to give them more time to think but yet again corners and 2 scents on one item did catch some out. However well done to everyone who had a go, I think for some it was a learning experience.
Cucklington is a great venue (once you’ve found it!) – spacious car park, quiet lanes and recreation field for walking, and a huge and varied space for our lovely judge Pippa to put out some challenging but fair finds for our happy, friendly competitors. All teams worked so hard and diligently, also having fun hopefully. Despite the threatening skies, we managed to stay dry, and congratulate our successful teams moments before the Heavens opened. So many thanks to Pippa for being her usual calm sunny encouraging self, and to the ever-efficient Caroline, who expertly scribed and managed the scores. Congratulations to all who passed, with particular mention to Anni and Alison on achieving their L5 excellence. Bravo all, and thanks to everyone for making it a relaxed and cheerful trial.
