Thank you everyone who entered today, you were a lovely bunch and I hope you enjoyed the morning, I watched some lovely work from mostly dogs and handlers new to level 5. I think it was a bit of a steep learning curve despite all the area searches they’ve done in training. The ultimate winner Jo with Neo were the only team to find all the hides, well done. In the first search which covered the main hall, store cupboard and kitchen was mostly done well, the hide that seemed to cause an issue was in the kitchen where there were 2 on opposite sides of the room, dogs found one fine be it on the left or right and then the handlers moved on in to hall without checking the opposite side so handler nerves I think came in here. The exterior search was mostly done well, if anything caused an issue it was the hide quite close to a plastic bin which sent the dog out wide, you could see the dog had got a whiff of scent but handlers were a bit keen to hurry on past into the main area, so again handler error. The last internal search proved the most interesting of the lot, first scent low down on the left hand side of the door frame close to start, got missed as again handlers swept past into the gents loo, the next hide was in the disabled loo on the wall end of a drop down bar, which was found fairly easily by most, the last hide was on another door frame, right hand low down at skirting board level of the double doors to the area behind the hall, again generally handlers not pushing the dog into the corner created by the stack of chairs next to the door.
