Thankyou Catherine for inviting me back to Gorsley to judge my first level one under the new guidelines.
It was a beautiful day with a very mild breeze.
We had 11 teams taking part and a white dog was used prior to all searches commencing.
Tables/chairs
I laid out 4 tables and 8 chairs in a routine square pattern. The cloves scent was hidden under the furthest away chair to the left.
9 of the competing teams found no problem here in finding the hide.
Leading the way home in some 12 seconds were Sophie and Skylar.Hot on their heels were,Andrea and Hope,Sally and Bryher,Joanna and Nyx Joyce and Halo, all in under 20 seconds. All giving a good demonstration of teamwork.
Vehicle/Wall
——————
This was set up at the rear of the building using a wall.
I hide the scent behind/under a waste pipe attached to the wall, approx 60cm from ground level and 2 meters from the start line.
9 of teams were successfully here. Some excellent handling and searching by a number of the teams.
The breeze played a little part here in helping the dogs go to source.
Sue and Merryn showing a clean pair of heels, finding the hide in 8 seconds, closely followed home by,Joanna and Nyx,Sophie and Skylar,Nadia and Smudge and Cottia and Mabel in 9,12,38,and 38 seconds respectively.
A lovely track back to source shown here by Catherine and Freddie.
Boxes/Luggage
————————
Some 14 boxes and bags laid our here in the main hall.
Scents were hidden in a box to the centre left and a bag to the rear right.
2 scents now being introduced to level 1.
This caused a problem with only 4 of the 11 teams finding both,6 others finding 1.
Lovely searching here once again by,Cottia and Mabel, finding both in some 39 seconds.
Exterior
————
This was set up on the patio area at the rear of the building.
13 miscellaneous items set out,the scents were hidden in 2 separate squeezey mop heads.
Under the new guidelines,2 hides..Only 6 of the teams successfully finding both with the remaining 5 finding only 1.
Excellent teamwork coming to the fore, with Joyce and Halo showing all the way home in some 16 seconds.
Closely followed home by Catherine and Freddie,Sophie and Skylar and Andrea and Hope, all giving a good account of themselves.
My congratulations go to the eventual rosette winners on the day….
1st…Joyce and Halo…2nd…Joanna and Nyx…3rd..Andrea and Hope…4th…Sophie and Skylar…
The first three all achieving a clean sweep.
Sophie and Skylar also obtaining their Excellence…
A nice way to spend a morning watching these up and coming teams.
As usual,All very friendly and chatty.
I wish you all the best through the levels and hopefully our paths will cross again one day.
