Trial Manager and Judges Reports

Firstly, I’d like to thank Ellen Ward Lindley for inviting me to Judge Level 5 at her lovely venue in Bodymoor Heath. I’d also like to thank my scribe Julia Reeves and the great competitors who helped to make it a great day.
Unfortunately, a few did not find all the scents, but a bit more practice and I am sure you will be up in the qualifiers and higher. There were some first time Level 5 entrants and nerves got the better of them at times.
Interior Search 1.
There were 4 searches in this area.
1. Under leg of table
2. On trolley
3. On coat stand
4. Radiator
The one on the Trolley in the centre of the room seem to be the most difficult, mainly because some handlers forgot to go into the middle.
Exterior Search
There were 3 searches here
1. Under leg of bench
2. On a separate bench on one side.
3. On the door hinge.
This time the one on the leg of the bench seemed to cause the most hassle, I actually thought this would be the easy find.
Second Interior
5 searches partly in hall and partly in store area.
1. Bottom of door in hall
2. On heater in hall
3. In skirting board in store
4. On chair in store
5. On bottom of a raffle tub in store
The raffle tub proved most difficult here, as most handlers did not cover the area even though the tub had been pulled out and was quite prevalent.
1st Hannah Cook & Quin – A very nervous handler, but what a joy to watch this dog. Well done your win was well deserved.
2nd Katie Rogers & Gylly – Another very good dog and was handled well, pleasure to watch.
3rd Cath Seddon & Dana – It was lovely to watch this dog work, steady and careful, unfortunately she needed to lift her head to pick the scent up on the chair.
I really enjoyed my day and thank everyone for making me welcome.
Gloria Bonnell – Judge
