Judges Report: Level 1
Thank you Sara for asking me to judge. For once the weather at Morleigh was on our side although the wind at times did cause some problems after I had set the vehicle search.
Thank you to Sally for scribing (without people volunteering to do this – trials would not run. It is also a great learning opportunity).
It was a pleasure to see great handling skills with sensitive voice control were needed for some nervous dogs. The majority of handlers worked their dogs on-line and this was done very well.
The soak was hidden in the front right of the pink dolls seat for the exterior search, tables and chairs caused an issue with the first 5 dogs all indicating on the same incorrect chair. The white dog was brought in again and did not indicate although tasked a number of times to the chair, so with the trail manager it was decided re-run this search,
Boxes and luggage were the next search and the soak was on the large black bag towards the rear of all the items. I would remind teams that they have 3 minutes and not to rush and to remember to “search all of all of the items”.
Last was the vehicle search where a change in the wind meant that the dogs had to work at finding the soak on the front drivers side mud flap.

Well done to all teams competing today.
