Thank you to everyone who entered and accepted my decisions with a smile, level 5 is a step up for the teams and I don’t think the handlers really appreciated this as it was mainly handling that could have been better for all the teams. All the hides were found at least once, most hides were relatively low just a couple that needed the smaller dogs to raise their heads, interior 1 had 5, 1 in the gents, 2 in the lobby and 2 in the committee room, interior 2 was the main hall which is big, 1 hide was on the left hand door as you entered so very early, the other 2 were on the cupboard doors at the front of the stage , teams were finding 1 then moving on before properly completing the search of the cupboard doors, the exterior had 4 and the elements really helped the teams to find the hides quite easily. Biggest thanks to Zoe for ensuring the smooth running of the trial and scribing, superb as ever and with a smile for everyone.
This trial was postponed from 10.12.22 due to illness and ice. This time torrential rain and floods threatened to stop play but thankfully all our competitors turned up, suitably attired and with big, but nervous, smiles! L5 is a big step up from the previous levels and can be a big learning curve, coping with the larger spaces. All our teams worked well, too many wrong alerts catching out a couple, and another two teams who just didn’t feel like playing sniffing today. Congratulations to our qualifiers, but well done to all the teams for giving it a go. It was a pleasure to see you all work and see the enjoyment and harmony between the teams. Thanks as always to our ever-smiling judge Pippa, for her expert, calm judging.
