Trial Manager and Judges Reports

Thankyou Ellen for inviting me along to Bodymoor Heath to Judge this level 6 trial.A Thankyou also to Ellen’s’ Mum Brenda, who acted as my faithful scribe for the day.Considering the recent weather we’d been having,it was a reasonably nice day with a little breeze.A white dog was used prior to all searches commencing.

Interior search 1
————————-
This was held in the main hall, where I laid out some 5 scents,a combination of cloves and gun oil.I used the the perimeter of the hall also laying out some articles and chairs in the centre.I hid 3 scents along the left hand side of the room,1 under a fire grate,1 under a chair and 1 in the bottom corner a of a storeroom door. The remaining 2 were were concealed in the buckle of a black bag in the centre of the room, and in the bottom hem of a pair of leggings,on a coat stand to the front right of the start line.
Three of the 8 competing teams were successful in finding all the hides, with some excellent searching shown by,Sara and Tia,Emma and Smartie with a lovely indication, and likewise Justine and Chumley.Four of the teams correctly identifying 4 hides and one 3.

Exterior
————
This search area was held to side of the building,on a patio area, containing a table, several wooden benches and a wall with drains and pipes.I decide to lay out 3 hides, made up of gun and truffle oil.Two of the hides, gun and truffle oil,I hid under either end of one of the wooden benches, to the immediate right of the start line, leaving over 4’ between them. The remaining scent was secreted at the bottom of a wall adjoining the paving slabs.Three of the teams correctly finding all 3,Excellent,methodical searching proving fruitful for Sara and Tia,Emma and Smartie and Justine and Chumley, who appeared to remain very calm and patient throughout. All but one of other teams failing to find the second scent on the bench.

Interior 2
————
This search area consisted of part of the foyer, the ladies toilets, and the disabled toilet and corridor.4 scents of gun and truffle oil were used.
1 was hidden in the skirting board at the entrance to the disabled toilet. The remaining 3 were concealed in the ladies toilet area,1 at the bottom of a cupboard door,1 in a cupboard drawer underneath the sink, the final one was hidden underneath the middle bar of a desk,to the left of the entrance.Three of the teams successfully found all 4,lovely searching by Alison and Dylan, closely followed by Yvonne and Drac and Sara and Tia.Three of the other teams finding 3 and two finding 2.

It was my pleasure to watch these experienced level 6 teams work in harmony.
