Trial Manager and Judges Reports

Thank you Zoe for being an excellent steward and Caroline for being runner and tea maker it does make a real difference when you’re working with people who know what they are doing. Cucklington village hall is a brilliant venue which was appreciated by the competitors judging by their comments. Thank you to the competitors for being such a cheerful lot and accepting my decisions with good grace. All the scents were found at least once which was gratifying, the first interior search consisted of part of the large entrance lobby, the disabled toilet and the committee room a total of 5 scents were used , the exterior which is quite large again had 5 scents which left just 2 for the second interior which was in the large almost empty hall, hopefully everyone enjoyed the challenge and took the best dog home. Congratulations to those that qualified you deserved it, commiserations to those that didn’t it was so close I’m sure it won’t be long before you are successful.

Thank you to all the competitors for coming to sunny (thankfully not too sunny, and actually at times rainy!) Somerset for the L6 trial. Some of you had driven 3 hours or more, and some even stayed locally overnight. Now that is enthusiasm and commitment! The quiet village hall at Cucklington, just minutes off the A303, is a great venue for trials, with its large car-park, own recreation field and large searching areas which allows the dogs to really show off their skills. Thank you to Judge Pippa, who had put out some excellent challenges to test handler skills and team work of the partnerships. Every team was a pleasure to watch, and witness, the joy and happiness that finding little pieces of scented cloths brings to dog and handler. Especial thanks to Caroline who kept the trial running like clock-work, and for wrangling the computer so efficiently that the scores were ready so quickly. Well done guys – competitors (human and canine), judge and steward – it was a fun day. Thank you. Zoe Heritage – TM
