Trial Manager and Judges Reports

A big Thankyou to Mandy for inviting me over to South Birmingham,to this lovely new venue. Also to my scribe Joyce and my runner,Gemma, you both did an excellent job on the day.
It was lovely to meet up again with my old friend of mine,Karen Denton.
The weather was kind to us,dry with very little breeze to speak of.
We had 8 competitors in total, who were all taken on a guided tour by myself of all the 3 relevant search areas.
A white dog was used prior to all searches commencing, and the time allowance allowed was based loosely upon this dogs timings.

Interior 1
————-
This was laid out in the large main hall which contained a number of items already in situe, such as,Tables, chairs, cupboards and radiators.
I also laid out several items in the centre of the search area.
1 cloves scent was hidden in a cable reel which was placed in the centre of the room. The remaining 4 scents, were made up of ,2 truffle and 2 gun, these were distributed around the exterior of the room in a bookcase,a radiator and 2 table legs.
5 minutes was allowed for this search.
5 of the teams found all with relative ease, the remaining 3 finding 4.
Some searching and handling, worthy of note here were,Emma and Danny,Jan and Amber and Paula and Bonnie.

Interior 2
—————
This area consisted of the foyer, corridor and large commercial type kitchen.
4 scents were concealed here,made up,of 2 truffle,1 cloves and 1 gun oil.
1 in a door approx 30cm from ground level, another low one under a radiator tap.The remaining 2 scents were hidden in the keyholes of 2 cupboards in the kitchen approx 60 cm from the floor.
Two and half minutes were allocated.
All teams were successful here in finding all the concealed scents.
A super fast time by Jan and Amber in 106 seconds. All teams performed well.

Exterior
———-
The full, length of the front of the building was used for.this search area.
3 scents, all gun oil were used here and two and half mins were allocated.
6 of the teams were successful here, the remaining two finding 2 and 1 respectively.
An excellent display all round by dogs and handlers.
Leading the way home in some 65 seconds were,Helen and Skylar closely followed by,Paula and Bonnie,Jan and Amber in 77 and 78 secs respectively.
I had the privilege of knowing all of the teams and it has been lovely to their progress through the levels.
It goes without saying that all teams put on a wonderful display of Scentwork when one sees them all qualify.
4 of the teams on maximum points with Mandy and Reenie a whisker away.
My congratulations go to the eventual rosette winners on the day…..
1…Jan and Amber(Excellence)…2… Paula and Bonnie Jazz…3…Emma and Danny…4…Helen and Skylar

It was my pleasure to judge you all on this level 6,I couldn’t think of a better way to have spent my morning.
I wish you all the best in your future trials and hope to meet up with some,if not all you,at some time in the future….
