Thankfully the rain cleared and the sun came out for our first trial at the new Training Centre in Mayfield.  Thank you to Helen and June for agreeing to judge Level 1 and Level 2 respectively and to David for stewarding.  Level 1 had 7 competitors with 5 running on the day and Level 2 had 10 with 8 running on the day. We had 4 qualifiers in Level 1 with 2 Clean Sweeps and Level 2 saw 2 qualifiers and no clean sweeps.

Level 1

Starting with Tables and Chairs with all successful.  We moved on to Exterior with the hide in a foot pump and despite the wind we had 4 successful finds.  The hide in the Vehicle search was in the driver’s front wheel arch and again we had 4 successes.  The Container search was last and the hide was in a box.  Two teams called a false alert on 2 different containers.  Jane Houston had a great day taking 1^st and 2^nd place with Basil and Mowgli, both on 100 points.  Paula and Rosie took 3^rd place and Audrey and little Flath took 4^th.

Level 2

June started with the Exterior Search and the wind played a part with just 3 teams finding both hides and 2 finding one. The Tables & Chairs were next and this proved tricky for a few teams.  The hide was in a chair and in between two placeboards in the shelving unit.  It was a mixed bag between the two hides but just 2 teams found both. The wind had picked up considerably for the vehicle search and just one team found both hides.  The Container search was the last search of the day and this was the most successful with all teams find at least one and 3 teams finding both.  A combination of nerves, first time in level 2 and weather conditions took their toll and we had just two qualifiers.  Alison and Rosie took 1^st place on 89 points and Barbara and Aven took 2^nd place on 77.5.  Yogi the Pug just missed out on qualifying but took 3^rd place and Jackie and Piper took 4^th.
