Thank you Kate and Rick for inviting us to Judge.
We travelled down to Wiltshire, met up with Kate and followed her to the Scent Barn. What a lovely venue. Setting up was easy, as the dedicated areas were laid out brilliantly.
We began with Boxes and Luggage, and Exterior.
It was clear to see that people and dogs were prepared for the trial, and knew what to expect from the day.
Zippy, Ozzy, Nellie Feebee and Asher did some very quick faultless searches, a very impressive start to the day. Wilf worked the area really well, and Eva gave a cracking indication on the 2nd scent, and Echo, even though a big boy nimbly manoeuvred himself to indicate in exactly the right spot. Meanwhile, inside we were getting some really quick searches. Keisha was Fantastic, as was Muska, Toast and Asher. it was lovely to watch Echo enjoying his job. Ginan and Tonica were divided by just 3 seconds!,( the friendly rivalry had begun ! ) Bailey Boo and Wilton both did well. And Lunas enthusiasm to search stood out.
A quick break, and then on to Tables and Chairs, and Vehicles.
The Vehicle search began with a great search from Ozzy, followed by Butty doing a lovely job, and Zippy living up to his name finding both scents in 70 seconds. BaileyBoo and Queeva Diva both did Christine proud finding both scents in style. Heather and Wilf worked brilliantly as a team to find both, as did Adele and Keisha, and Sally and Asher. Ginan and Tonica were still neck and neck, and Nellie made it look easy.
Tables and Chairs and perimeter proved easy for some teams, Brian and Muska were fabulous, what an awesome dog, a great team, and a pleasure to watch. Luna was a star, finding both in just 28 seconds. There were some dogs picking up the scent from the chair as they entered the room, and it was lovely to watch handlers give them the space to work it out. Feebee, and Ozzy tracked to source beautifully, leaving Alison and Jayne in no doubt were the scents were. Hogan was great here, doing a lovely methodical search.
Today we watched some amazing teams, and some real quality dogs. Really exceptional, We can safely say each team had moments that stood out, and you should all be very proud of yourselves.
I have to say the highlight of the day for me was Echos little (or not so little) Irish Dance Indication.
Helen and Nellie, we have watched your confidence grow with each trial, resulting in a faultless performance this time, and a nice Red Rosette to show for your hard work. You were a joy to watch. Little Nellie you were awesome today.
Thank you to our scribes too, you really do make our job easier,
We would also like to quickly mention, that our 1st impression of this place stayed with us throughout the day, the hard work and love that has been invested here is clear to see, making this a great place for scentwork.
Hope to see you all again soon.
