Thank you to Jimmy for agreeing to judge in a new venue.  A very cold day set the scene for a trial with 23 competitors (6 in Level 1, 10 in Level 2 and 7 in Level 3).  With a little pre-planning and the help of Scribe June we marked off an area outside on grass for the Exterior Search and manoeuvred cars into place for the Vehicle search.  In Level 1 we started with the Exterior  Search followed with the Container then Vehicle followed by Tables.  Level 2 we started with the Exterior followed by Tables/Perimeter then Vehicle and finished with Container.  Level 3 saw both outside searches completed first to make the most of the light and we finished with Container then Tables and Perimeter.

In Level 1 we had 6 teams competing and 5 qualified.  We had a good start with all 6 completing the Exterior Search which was great as it is a bit of a bunny fest in that area! The Container search went well with just 1 false alert called. The vehicle search (the scent was in the front drivers wheel) was a little more difficult with 3 false alerts called and the wind and freezing temperature playing a part.   The Tables and Chairs saw 1 false alert being called. Sandra and her GSDs Bear and Ria did exceptionally well gaining both 1st and 2nd place respectively and just half a mark between them! Naima and Mason took 3rd place on 95 points and Jackie with Sonic were 4th with 88 points.

Level 2 had 10 teams competing with 7 qualifying.  The Exterior Search went relatively well but a couple of dogs were finding the rabbit scent in the area a bit of a draw and neither dog got either of the two finds and we had one dog with one find.  Tables/Perimeter went well with 7 dogs with 2 finds and 3 dogs with 1 find.  We moved on to vehicle search with 3 dogs on 1 find and 1 dog with no finds but 4 dogs gaining full marks and 2 with 2 finds but losing marks on handling.  . The Container search went well, there were 4 false alerts but all dogs had at least one find. We finished with 3 clean sweeps and two dogs on full marks and time difference saw 1st place awarded to the Eleanor and her Welsh Springer Brogan.  Lesley-Ann and Springer Harris took 2nd place. Laura and Islay were 3rd with 95 points and Kevin with Roxy were 4th on 88 points.

Level 3 saw 7 dogs compete and 5 qualifiers.  The Exterior search saw 4 false alerts and the Vehicle search with 2.  We then moved indoors as it was warmer and lighter! The Container search proved a little tricky with 5 out of 7 calling a false alert, 2 on a box which was near to the bag with a find and 3 on other boxes or bags not near the two finds. The Tables and Perimeter (scent was in the storage box of Thomas the Tank Engine!)went well with just 2 false alerts.  Alan and Frankie dropped just one mark overall to go first and with the only clean sweep. Jen and Buster were second with 90 points followed closely by Heather and Harris on 89 and Laura and Fly took 4th place with just half a mark less.

Well done to and a huge thank you to everyone for taking part, supporting each other and making it a great event.
