First off I would like to thank Karen Kendall for asking me to judge at this trial, also thanks to my co-judge Paul, scribe Susan and the runners for the day. Also thanks to everyone who kept me fuelled with Coffee throughout.

I was tasked with the Tables, chairs and perimeter search and the vehicle search, we began with Tables and chairs.

The scent was hidden on an extension cable and on the 4th chair from the right. 10/15 teams found both hides, they were Fiona Vaughan & Dot, Barbara O’Brien & Jaffa, Jan Manners & Gemma, Lisa Finney & Brew, Dave Thomas & Guliver, Gill Robinson & Dora, Carol Green & Tashi, Kate Wilkes & Tali, Emma Bearman & Alfie and Julie Neale & Wren. 5/15 found one scent and they were Jackie Hodge & Kona, Mary Allen & Alice, Liz Ormerod & Benji, Laine Hartnett & Mawgan, and Natalie Ranson & Freddie.

Then it was on to the Vehicle search, the scent was hidden on the front grill of the 2nd vehicle & the rear wheel on the 3rd vehicle. 13/15 teams found both hides and they were, Laine Hartnett & Mawgan, Emma Bearman & Alfie, Lisa Finney & Brew, Fiona Vaughan & Dot, Dave Thomas & Guliver, Kate Wilkes & Tali, Jackie Hodge & Kona, Natalie Ranson & Freddie, Gill Robinson & Dora, Julie Neale & Wren, Liz Ormerod & Benji, Barbara O’Brien & Jaffa and Carol Green & Tashi. 2/15 teams found one hide and they were Mary Allen & Alice and Jan Manners & Gemma.

It was great to see that all 15 teams qualified for their level 2, and it goes to show just how good the teams were on the day. I witnessed some lovely handling and the handler’s ability to read their dogs was outstanding. The calibre of handling can be seen in the results with 6 teams gaining 100 points.

Congratulations to Emma Bearman & Alfie who took 1st place, 2nd place was Julie Neale & Wren, 3rd place to Fiona Vaughan & Dot and 4th place to Kate Wilkes & Tali

So massive congratulations to you all and keep up the hard work. I look forward to seeing you all again in the future.

A white dog was used on all search areas.

First off I would like to thank Karen Kendall for asking me to judge this trial, thanks also to Paul Bailey for trial managing and Sue Benson for scribing for me.

We started with the first interior search, held in the main hall. The hides were from left to right, a wooden box, the bottom of a door, a dado rail and a post base in the middle of the room. The most missed hide was the bottom of the door with only 2 teams finding this they were Jil Harper & Herbie and Felicity Ashford & Mr Smiths. Out of 8 teams 1 team found all 4 hides and that was Felicity Ashford & Mr Smiths, 5/8 teams found 3 and they were Jil Harper & Herbie, Liz Ormerod & Archie, Kathy Fitzgerald & Portia, Lynda Crossland & Teddy and Karen Kendall & Charlie. 2/2 teams found 2 hides and they were Marie Poole & Liberty and Chris Clements & Queeva Diva.

It was then on to the exterior search which was held around the back of the building, 4 hides were placed around the edge of the building and they were the middle of 2 doors, back of a down pipe, corner of a drain cover and front edge of a crate. The most missed hide was the middle of the doors at the start of the search followed by the crate. 5/8 teams found all 4 and they were Felicity Ashford & Mr Smiths, Karen Kendall & Charlie, Marie Poole & Liberty, Kathy Fitzgerald & Portia and Lynda Crossland & Teddy. 1/8 found 3 hides and that was Chris Clements and Queeva Diva, and 2 teams found 2 hides and that was Liz Ormerod & Archie & Jil Harper & Herbie.

Then it was time for the 2nd interior search which was held in a corridor and the ladies toilet, the scents were hidden on the back box of the disabled toilet, under the sink cupboard, the end partition of the toilet and the edge of the gents toilet door. 6/8 teams found all 4 and they were Marie Poole & Liberty, Lynda Crossland & Teddy, Chris Clements & Queeva Diva, Felicity Ashford & Mr Smiths, Jil Harper & Herbie and Karen Kendall & Charlie. 2 teams found 3 hides and they were Kathy Fitzgerald & Portia and Liz Ormerod & Archie.

7/8 teams qualified for their level 6 and they were Felicity Ashford & Mr Smiths in 1st place, 2nd Place was Lynda Crossland & Teddy, 3rd Place was Karen Kendall & Charlie and 4th place was Marie Poole & Liberty. Other qualifiers were Kathy Fitzgerald & Portia, Chris Clements & Queeva Diva and Jil Harper & Herbie.

Well done to everyone who took part, it was a pleasure to watch your dog’s search and the high number of qualifiers shows just how great you all were. Keep up the training and I look forward to seeing you all again in the future.
A white dog was used in all search areas.
