Judges Report Level 6
First off I would like to thank Karen for asking me to judge this trial. Also thanks to Michelle for scribing for me.
We started with interior 1, 5 hides were hidden around the main hall. From left to right they were Cupboard door, agility weave pole holders, dado rail, hinge of another cupboard and a handle of a suitcase in the centre of the room. Every single team found all the hides in this area. so well done to Liz & Archie, Peter & Dolly, Heather & Timmy, Mary & Alfie, Kate & Kiwi, Ellen & Meg, Harry & Zack and Keith & Monty. All handlers worked this area incredibly well and thoroughly and all dogs were more than capable of searching at this level.
Next it was to the exterior, there were 4 hides put out and they were an air brick, back of a stack of chairs, bracket on the wall and the bottom of a wall at the end of the building. 5 teams were 100% successful and they were Ellen & Meg, Peter & Dolly, Heather & Timmy, Kate & Kiwi and Harry & Zack. 1 team found 3 hides and that was Liz & Archie. 2 teams found 2 hides and that was Mary & Alfie and Keith & Monty. The bracket appeared to be the most challenging hide, but it really depended on how the team approached the wall.
Then lastly interior 2, this was in the small committee room, 3 hides were put out and they were a hole in the skirting board, the underside of a heater and a gap in the cupboard door. Again 5 teams found all hides and they were Harry & Zack, Mary & Alfie, Liz & Archie, Peter & Dolly and Keith & Monty. 2 teams found 2 and they were Heather & Timmy and Kate & Kiwi, 1 team found 1 hide and that was Ellen & Meg.
This was a lovely trial to judge as the standards overall were very high from all teams. The handlers remained focused on the task at hand, and the dogs definitely knew their job. All 8 competitors qualified which isn’t always the way at these higher levels. So a huge congratulations to everyone who took part.
So the results were 1st place Harry & Zack, 2nd place Peter & Dolly, 3rd place Heather & Timmy who also gained their excellence award, and 4th place to Kate & Kiwi. Qualifiers were Ellen & Meg, Mary & Alfie, Keith & Monty and Liz & Archie.
Again well done to all the teams who took part, you made this a pleasurable trial to judge. Keep up the good work and I hope to see you all again soon.

Trial Manager’s report
Chilly weather with the prospect of heavy downpours didn’t dampen the spirits of our competitors today as they arrived raring to get going with their Level 6 Trial.
All the dogs were of medium to small size so most of the hides were at a very low level. Ali, our judge, set interesting search areas with Interior 1 being the main hall, Interior 2 being the small committee room and the Exterior search was set at the side of the hall behind a closed gate which is not accessible to the general public’s dogs so it’s a massive help to our handlers’ dogs who find environmental doggy smells difficult to deal with because there are no dog smells there!
The standard of the dog teams was very high and eight out of eight passed which was lovely giving everyone a great sense of satisfaction and nobody went home feeling disappointed.
Congratulations to Harry & Zack who took 1st place, Peter & Dolly 2nd, Heather & Timmy 3rd with an Excellent title, Kate & Kiwi 4th and to Ellen & Meg 5th who have also achieved an amazing six levels in six months. Well done to Mary & Alfie and Keith & Monty for qualifying and it was a Happy Birthday to Liz & Poodle who also qualified.
Huge thanks to Ali Brannen for setting an interesting Trial and giving up her time to judge today and also to Michelle Rodgers for her time and her efficient scribing skills.
Thank you all for coming and well done everyone!
