Thank you Marianne for asking me to judge the Level 7 at Wellingborough Rugby Football ground. I arrived quite early which gave me time to look around at the venue and to familiarise myself as it was a long time since I had been there!
Due to road works some of the competitors were late arriving, so the briefing took place at 10.15 am with a 10.30 start. The first search was Interior 1 which was the bar area. There were 6 hides and 5 minutes to find them. Most people searched the area and called ‘Clear’ after 4 or 5 and I think that putting 6 in the first search blew some of the handlers minds, but the dogs did some very good searches.
The Exterior was next and it was a larger area but I allowed 2.5 minutes for 2 hides. Unfortunately only 2 of the teams found both, one being Timmy and Heather.
The final search was Interior 2 which was the hallway leading into 1 changing room. This had 4 hides, 2 in the changing room and 2 in the hallway. At this stage 3 teams could have qualified, Most of the teams found 3, but unfortunately Banjo got very tired and only found 1, which was a shame.
At the end of the trial unfortunately nobody qualified, with Alison and Dylan being 0.01 away from the 9 required, however, I hope that you enjoyed the day and be proud of your dogs as they worked really well in what turned out to be a warm day.
Again I would like to thank Marianne for asking me to judge as well as the helpers who kept the trial running smoothly.
Well here we are at Wellingborough again this time for a level 7.
Most of you have been to Wellingborough before so you know the layout. We are so lucky to have the changing rooms to use as extra searches.
The day started off quite cool but the sun soon came out. We were lucky not to have a bonfire this time.
Wellingborough is a great venue especially for levels 5 and above as we have so many different areas to use.
Although no one qualified today I hope you all enjoyed the day and went away with more experience of a level 7. I think the first search blew everyones mind as Nigel had put 6 hides out.
I will email/message you all the results.
I look forward to seeing you all again when we run another level 7.
